The founding partners of Macro Hedge Advisors have cooperated for more than ten years to help clients make better financial decisions. They met and worked together in senior management positions at the London based European securities firm, MUFG Securities, which was part of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), one of the world’s largest financial services groups.

Dr. Brendan Brown is a world-renowned economist, author, commentator and consultant.

He is senior fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC, an organisation that prides itself on interdisciplinary study. He is also an associate scholar at the Mises Institute in Auburn, Alabama which promotes the teaching and research of the Austrian school of economics.

Dr. Brown has developed techniques of global asset market analysis during a long career, including as Head of Economics and Strategy at MUFG and Senior Currency Economist at the stockbroker Phillips & Drew. 

His expertise includes extensive knowledge of monetary analysis, global capital flows, European and Japanese monetary matters and behavioural finance. He tracks market trends as they evolve across asset classes including currencies, credit, equities and fixed income.

Dr. Brown is the author of 15 books, including:

The Case Against 2 Per Cent Inflation (Palgrave, 2018);

Euro Crash: How Asset Price Inflation Destroys the Wealth of Nations (Palgrave, 2014);

The Global Curse of the Federal Reserve (Palgrave, 2011).

He is a columnist for Nikkei Veritas and a frequent guest on Bloomberg TV and Radio.  He was the founder publisher of Monetary Scenarios, a financial newsletter that predicted and interpreted global monetary movements.

He has received a PhD (University of London), MBA (University of Chicago). MSc (London School of Economics), and MA (University of Cambridge). 

Stephen Martus, CFA is a derivatives expert and has advised both small & global multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector bodies on their risk management and funding requirements.

He was London Managing Director at MUFG Securities for the past fifteen years, where he built from scratch and led the Derivative Solutions Group (EMEA) and the Equity Solutions Group (International) and rose to become co-head of the Capital Markets Group.

Stephen started out in fixed income derivatives in 1991 at Capital Market Services in Zurich, where he became head of the rates desk and built a global client base.

He was a Founding Partner at Cassian Capital, helping to launch a macro hedge fund with a strategy based on subjective pattern recognition. 

He earned the CFA Charter and became a CFA Charterholder in 1997.

Stephen holds a BA in Economics and Italian from Middlebury College.
